SELF-INFLICTED WOUND
DID SHE WHISPER, "I LOVE YOU"
AS I HELD HER OH SO TIGHT
OR WAS IT JUST MY LOVE FOR HER
REFLECTED IN THE NIGHT
DID IT COME FROM HER LIPS
OR WAS IT NEVER SAID
DID IT COME FROM HER HEART
OR WAS IT JUST INSIDE MY HEAD
SOMETHING PASSED BETWEEN US
OR AT LEAST IT PASSED THROUGH ME
LOVE I'VE NEVER FELT BEFORE
AND NEVER THOUGHT COULD BE
BUT AM I TRULY IN HER HEART
OR IS SHE JUST IN MINE
FOR LOVE THAT IS NOT SHARED
IS THE MOST PAINFUL KIND

What a beautiful soul searching poem, filled with longing.
ReplyDeleteLove is something that can wound us all.
I love what you did here.
So easy to relate.
Rick! what a wonderful surprise! Not only do I get to read a SECOND post from you in one week... but,Its a LOVE POEM! You ol' softy! I didn't know you were a talented poet as well as a comic writer!
ReplyDeleteexcellent job my friend. xo
The pictures are great with the poem, which is very moving, by the way. I really like this:
ReplyDelete'OR WAS IT JUST MY LOVE FOR HER
REFLECTED IN THE NIGHT'
Whether or not the love was returned, its reflection in the night created beauty.
Little Wing and Lucy:
ReplyDeleteI think it is more like a lack of love poem. LOL
Thanks for the great comments. You two are the primary reason I am writing overtime.
Julia:

My thanks to Little Wing and Lucy for inspiring you to "write overtime". This is a Good Thing you're encouraging, ladies! :)
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with your expanded genres of writing. I find this subject difficult to write about. You did it with ease.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite poem so far.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you wrote it with a smirk :)
