A lot of people are concerned about illegal Immigrants taking jobs away from American citizens. The following is a partial list of occupations that are not threatened by the influx from Mexico. For job security, I recommend training in one of these professions:
1) Air Traffic Controller
2) Rocket Scientist
3) Brain Surgeon
4) Professional Basketball Player
5) Pharmacist
6) CEO of Microsoft
7) Airline Pilot
8) Actuary
9) Certified Public Accountant
10) Nuclear Physicist
11) Judge
12) Investment Banker
13) Professor of English Lit
Postscript: If your job can be taken away by someone who doesn't speak English, you have a shitty job.

Good list! I DO have a shitty job, but if someone takes it away from me, they will need to speak English and for that I am grateful.

I don't know... I had a few English professors who couldn't speak the language. And when I was a TA, I had a number of students bring me their roommates (not simply their rommates' papers) for help because their own TA wasn't as fluid in the language as you'd expect an English major to be.

Well that says a lot for ambition, doesn't it. I do think we are going to have to learn the meaning of that in this global competition. We don't have to wait for people to come take jobs away anymore; the companies just ship our jobs overseas and leave us here.
Interesting list ... and perspective. Being 'happily retired' this is no longer a concern for me, but it is for many.

Great list! My job made the top 13... well, almost. I teach English. Close enough, right? Let's see who else is safe in my family. Dad was an air traffic controller. My f-i-l was a "rocket scientist" and my husband works for NASA. Looks like we're pretty safe. Thanks!
