Sunday Scribblings - "Somewhere" - 8/31/08

This week's Sunday Scribblings prompt was "Somewhere". Though I am hardly a poet, this little rhyme came to mind. I hope someone enjoys it.

Somewhere there is paradise
For those that are devout
And Valhalla awaits the faithful
Of that I have no doubt

Heaven’s gates will open
With it’s perfection and allure
Utopia is expected
By the pious and the pure

Since I know I’m not worthy
Of rewards somewhere greater
I will enjoy my Elysium
Now, instead of later

For I have my Arcadia
Nirvana is within reach
I exist in Shangri-la
Right here at Myrtle Beach

I like your little rhyme and its important message. I spend the summer near the ocean and it's heaven, for sure!

Myrtle Beach is almost as great as Virginia Beach. As a native I know all the private quiet beaches here. Nice blog!

Great post! And I just can't get over your wingman! I'm surprised you didn't name him Trixy!

So happy Myrtle beach is your little bit of paradise Rick! We aren't all lucky enough to feel that way about our home.
Your dog is so cute.

My new companion's name is Skooter. He was already named when I got him but it fits him well.

Terrie:
Virginia Beach!! Yuk!!! You can keep it. You can have all the people back that moved here from there too.

Hey - don't knock Virginia Beach! That's my hometown. You can't be talking about the natives, you must be talking about the transients that moved "through" from here to there. Just pass them along to the next town. :)

Seriously, I loved your poem and I wanted to add that nobody is worthy of heaven. God is merciful enough to allow us in anyway.....John 3:16.

In the meantime, enjoy the beach!

I suppose the Virginia Beach area is ok if you are in the Navy or feed off of it.

I am glad you take solace in what John had to say. However, for the 68% of the world (more than that if you are just counting so-called born agains) that practice equally viable beliefs, John is just another Stephen King.

That was a great little poem for this topic. I love all the pictures, too!

Heaven on Earth, I have NO problem with that!
There is a Heaven on Earth spa, also a Heaven on Earth Cafe, oh and a Heaven on Earth Bed and Breakfast that I just bet is out of this world! I believe the Bed and Breakfast is in Oregon?
Then of course there is the movie and lets not forget the song.
Maybe John visited each of these establishments and may have even directed the movie?
Ahhhhhh Nirvana! Perfect peace of the mind!!!!!!!
It could be questionable if Kurt Cobain reached it or not. Maybe he should have moved to Myrtle Beach???
