Three Word Wednesday - 55 Flash Fiction Friday - callous, interfere, persistent - 2/25/09

Once again, I am combining two great MEMEs: G-Man's 55 Flash Fiction Friday and 3 Word Wednesday. It is a fun challenge. I recommend you try it. This week's three words are: callous, interfere, and persistent. Whether or not this is a work of fiction depends on the statute of limitations.

He had learned not to interfere with the persistent warfare next door.
He was not callous, but he had jumped into such a fracas before, only to see the bruised and battered woman return for more.
Until one day he witnessed the dirt bag beating his dog.
That was when he went over the fence.

Wow! This one is great! I can't stand when dogs are abused. Like they can do anything about it. Love ya Carly

It takes a real asshole to beat a helpless dog.

Telling a story in 55 words is a real challenge. You did a great job.

I believe that this very representative of you. You'd be the first one over the fence and you with your freakish strength.....well I wouldn't want it to be me on the other side. In the time I knew you there were how many rescue efforts for dogs....??

I think this is very representative of many. Kids and dogs will bring on an intervention, some how women and men on the recieving end of abuse are perceived as they SHOULD be able to get away. But because dogs and children love so unconditionally they will take it. Boy, this one makes my head reel. co

Hm, as Frank whatshisname said in Hidalgo...don't talk bad about my horse (big dog). Should have shot him the first time though.

It's a sad fact over here that people will willingly go to the rescue of an animal (quite rightly I might add) but wouldn't help another human being. :(

Great 55.

Sad and thought provoking.

It's beyond sad that the human race perpetrates violence against one another and our loving, trusting pets. Great 55!

In a New York minute. Women can choose to live in an abusive relationship or not. A dog has no choice. Case in point.

It seems like both our themes for the 55's this week are on abuse. It is something that I will never be able to figure out...:(
