55 Flash Fiction Friday - "I Wish This Was Fiction" - 7/9/09

Each week G-Man of 55 Flash Fiction Friday challenges us to write a story using only 55 words. This week I am writing a true account. I could not make this up.

I needed a late night snack
I grilled a slice of delicious Indian naan flatbread
I reached into my spice cabinet for cinnamon
This is when it all went wrong for me
I scattered a significant amount on the steaming bread

In bad light, Old Bay looks just like cinnamon
It tastes nothing like it

There's not much worse than expecting one flavor and getting another. I remember once grabbing what I thought was a grape and popping it into my mouth. It was an olive. I love olives, but not when I'm expecting a plump, sweet grape.

Excellent 55 MBW.

But remember..Quid Pro Quo!!

If you want people to read you, you need to do a little visiting AND commenting yourself.

Thanks for always playing so well, and have a GREAT Week-End....G

what I didn't say is that after the initial shock to my taste buds, I ate the flat bread.

Yuk. Now stuff a chicken with the toast.
Good 55.

Oh I am sorry that couldn't have been a pleasant experience. Well I hope you get a chance to eat your cinnamon topped bread soon. I hope you have a great weekend. My 55 is up.

LOL! I did just that once. Only worse. I gave my son Betadine solution instead of liver tonic, just because I was not wearing my glasses!

I just realized I keep my cinnamon and Old Bay seasoning in the same cupboard, on the same shelf, probably because they both fit so nicely there. You better believe I'm barefooting it to the kitchen right now to change things around! Good Flash 55--I enjoyed it!

Whale: I have the same problem with vodka and water. Guess which I prefer.

Ew!!! I thought I was alone in making mistakes of that nature.
