55 Flash Fiction Friday - Direction - 11/12/09

This week's offering to the 55 Flash Fiction Friday Gods was prompted by Lena's suggestion of Direction. For some, drugs increase creativity. Copious amounts of narcotics for me, not so much. I will do better next week as there are no refills allowed.

The path forked. One track was deeply rutted and well traveled. The other was relatively unused, with weeds growing unchallenged. His nature was to follow the more popular trail. This time he elected to go in the direction less frequented. He had hiked a few hundred yards when he was eaten by a forest creature.

HEY, I AM NOT ROBERT FREAKING FROST.

Are you kidding?

But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

haha. the road less traveled (perhaps by humans) just got a whole lot more crowded! loved your 55 and walking a whole lot more cautiously.

I hope I have not become one to state the obvious.

Listen I CAN TOTALLY RELATE! I liked it. And if I took the path less travelled, I too, would be eaten by a forest creature. No question about it!

WE are glad you said forest creature and not dragon or we would have had a confabulation among the dragons. After which we would look in our old
rimestock and found a curse that would purdify you.

Yes, I was kidding about Robert Frost being boring... I am however a Whitman girl myself.

The only Whitman I really remember is: "O Captain! my Captain!" He tended to be a bit heavy for my little brain.

What a gem! My ex used some lines from the Robert Frost version as in his "email signature" shortly after we were divorced. I thought to myself, "well, if taking the Road Less Traveled means going to CrazyTown, perhaps that is WHY the Road is Less Traveled, dumbarse!"

So, I particularly enjoyed your take on this oft-quoted classic!
