Thursday 13. Some of my favorite all-time one hit wonders. Some of these may have had more than one hit in Europe, Australia, or Zimbabwe, but only one big hit in the U.S. Some may have had other songs that charted but are remembered for only one huge song. These are in no particular order. Unless you are very young or very old you should recognize most of them. Enjoy!!
1) The Safety Dance – Men Without Hats
2) Chevy Van – Sammy Johns
3) God Bless the USA – Lee Greenwood
4) My Sharona – The Knack
5) Tainted Love – Soft Cell
6) Come On Eileen – Dexy’s Midnight Runners
7) Play That Funky Music – Wild Cherry
8) Keep Your Hands To Yourself – Georgia Satellites
9) Mary’s Prayer – Danny Wilson
10) Please Come To Boston – David Loggins
11) In the Summertime – Mungo Jerry
12) Walking in Memphis – Marc Cohn
13) All Right Now – Free
Honorable Mention: Chumbawamba – Tubthumping, The Future’s So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades – Timbak 3, Mississippi Queen – Mountain, Bang A Gong – T-Rex, Black Betty – Ram Jam, Sex and Candy – Marcy Playground, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida – Iron Butterfly, I Touch Myself – Divinyls, Major Tom – Peter Schilling

Great list Rick!~ I remember like it was yesterday- Everyone predicting the Knack would be as big as the Beatles!
And Tainted Love has been redone by a couple different bands...great list. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by:)
LOL! I love Safety Dance and Come on Eileen!
*hugs*

I don't know any of these songs, except Tainted Love. Hmm. Happy TT!

Renee
You won't believe this, but we were JUST singing Please Come to Boston at the Cantina tonight. Only we were singing, "Please come to Fuquay!"
Heh heh heh heh heh. Ouch. Am I old? Cuz I know every one of those songs.
I'm smiling just thinking about most of those songs - especially Safety Dance and Come On Eileen, but Tubthumping is definitely a close third.
i love a ton of those! thanks for mentioning a few i'd never heard of. i'll have to check them out.
That is a wonderful list.
I remember #7, and #11 has never gone away. I wonder if Mungo jerry still collect royalties.
I think quite a few of these were on the juke box at the Happy Landing in Smelterville!
